Today I have the opportunity to stop by Grand Island Lodge No. 422 in Munising to participate in the initiation of a man who's petition I signed a while ago. He is a co-worker, and came to me one day asking what the Masons were all about. I related the usual patter, then encouraged him to read good material offline. The journey leading up to this evening is one filled with dinners, fellowship, family and preparation. I know this man and his Family well, have driven his children to school, worked on projects with him for one of his several occupations, indeed, I'm confident enough in him to have signed a petition for membership, and now feel the obligation to continue with him on his Journey through the several lesson of Masonry that we call Degrees. Tonight a man and friend will become and Entered Apprentice. Isn't this what it should be all about. Friend to friend ? Let's be cautious not to let that young man sit in the Lodge by himself, wondering what he just got himself into. Let's put our arm around him and serve shoulder to shoulder, in something that is larger than ourselves. That is how you can Share the Secret.
