Conference of Grand Masters - Day 3

James Hawkins, IMC
It's day three of the conference the Grand Masters Conference of North America here in Vancouver British Columbia. This morning Shriners International hosted the Demolay breakfast where we heard a keynote speech from International Master counselor James Hawkins. James told his story of his pre- Demolay life and how it changed who he is. After his remarks which were most appreciated he presented a petition for masonry to the Grand Master of Georgia. What an wonderful event from an animated young man, Hopefully those in the room understood what he was telling them. Some days I think we should just hand the keys of the craft over to these young men and let them run
with it right now.
Here is a picture of all of us Grand Masters of North America who were present for the conference.
I had an opportunity to sit in on the breakout for civility. You can learn more by going to www.civilitycenter.org  the topic of civility was approached last year during the conference of grandmasters of north America and I am been a proponent of using civility in all of my dealings with the Michigan Masons. Most recently I addressed the Royal Arch Masons as a keynote speaker where I want to again emphasized civility. We have shifted away from being civil to one another and it's time to bring these principles back into focus.
