Every once in a while we get an email or quote that chimes into our passions. Even though it may be a political comment, ultimately there is an undertow of hatred or dislike of one culture or another. Even a jab at the presumed background of an individual. While we are free to think as we may, it is not in keeping with the genuine principles of Freemasonry to discriminate against a man for any reason, other than the fact that he does not have a belief in an unseen higher power (God). My dear brothers, let us not get ensnared in a culture of bullying and hatred based on the actions of a few. May I remind you of our stance in Michigan Masonry.
"Freemasons in Michigan believe that brotherly love, relief and truth are limitless among God’s unique creation of man. We therefore
declare our intent to always act upright and meet on the level while
squaring our actions and agree that all good men of every culture who
profess a faith in an Almighty Creator are most welcome to contribute
their unique talents to the greater good of this fraternity and people
across the world. (2012)"
