A Charitable Golf Outing, laughs, tears, memories and funds for the MMSAP

Its 3:00 am, time to head for Cadillac for the 4th annual Square and Compass Golf Outing.  Showed up to threatening rain, and in fact it did get damp for several minutes.  Then the sun showed up for a perfect day.  The Grand Master has never golfed, ever, nor did he intend on starting now. Unfortunately for unsuspecting golfers, he did secure a cart and a camera.  I would say it was an average day until I came up to a hill, and while going over it, I caught the view of large pads of grass enriched soil flying through the air.  Not one, but many.  I'm thinking, hey, there must be an excavator working on the course, until I clear the hill and see one of my Grand Stewards digging in the green for earthworms with a golf club as evidenced in the picture. My next encounter with this crochet game using a tiny ball was when another of my Grand Officers launched a perfect projectile, only to have it ricochet off of some 150 yr white stick somebody stick in the middle of the course.  I heard something like "I couldn't have done that with a bucket full of balls"  I don't know, the video is to the right, in the Grand Masters Podcasts, you be the judge. Besides the fun and traveling around enjoying the company for Michigan's Masons, I heard from the "Pink Group" it brought tears to my eyes, one of the family was missing this year, passed from breast cancer, they were celebrating the memories.  Wabon was in the house, Dr. Julie Stevens was having a great time.  Pathways residents were on hand, even Bob Mervau, who I presented with the 70 yr pin last Tuesday, was on hand. Another Video in the podcasts was a rare shot of one Shrine Clown (Grand Master) enticing another (Roger Moore), and the resultant shenanigans happening right there in the middle of the course. A record fundraiser thanks to the amazing efforts of the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation.  Brothers and Families, thank you for making me proud to be your Grand Master, and sharing your story with me.  I almost decided to stay home, and would have missed sharing an amazing time with fabulous friends......... The Masonic Model Student Assistance program, started by the late PGM Don Heming benefited today !!  I'm back home, crossed the Mighty Mac one more time and ready to take a sabbath....
