WB Harry DeMaso, a Michigan politician who got his start in Battle Creek
and spent much of his life representing local voters, has died.
According to his son, Tom DeMaso, the Republican former state senator was 93. Before his death Friday, DeMaso lived in Holt.
It's
technically accurate to describe DeMaso as a Republican, but his
successor in Michigan's 20th District Senate seat, Dr. Joe Schwarz of
Battle Creek, said it's not accurate to think of DeMaso along party
lines. "He was probably one of the last politicians who
really worried about what people needed or what his district needed
rather than what he needed."
Larry Dillon remembers Harry through his time in Demolay and Masonry. Click here to see the tribute from 2 years ago. Harry was a Michigan Mason for 67 years, and served as Worshipful Master of Battle Creek Lodge # 12. See Brother Demaso during his 60 year pin presentation.
