Retreat Day, and and inspiration from Boardsource - Robin Hindsman
Robin set the tone for the day by going over the survey material and covering the types of Boards each one of our three represented. Operational, governance, peculiarities to being non profit, etc. At the end of the day we were able to distill and own several outcomes that each board felt important. Spending more time getting to know each board member (I got that down), to build a better bond of trust. Lots of thoughts came out of the discussions, which for Ms. Hindsman and others were logical ways of thinking. For the old Fraternity, which grinds at snails pace, it will be looked at, over analyzed and put on the shelf to collect dust, much like a typical Strategic Plan. I took copious notes, and hope to see the material surface in the next several months. I'm sure staff will be able to help their boards to more fully appreciate the outcomes of the retreat. Good food, new friends, better understanding of each Boards responsibility all made for a great weekend.
